So, here we are, the two observers invited by Valentina to have a look what is happening on the island of Lampedusa.
What do we see happening there?
So we see that there is very little chance that the local people can settle the problems with the masses of newcomers. So, what can be done to ease the situation? Who is doing what? Here is a forum for discussing these questions.
We already start to see that this is not a local problem. As we see it, this calls for our attention all over Europe. What do you think about the situation? Who all should take action?

The visit to Lampedusa (even if it is a virtual one) is quite a rough experience. The risks that the refugees take are enormous. The conditions in which they camp are far from what they expected. At the same time the residents have to put up with the pressure of new boats coming there.
I hope that the Facebook group “Support for migrants and residents in Lampedusa” becomes a good forum for policy-monitoring.
I think that the Governement doesn’t give a full support!
It is a dangerous situation and the locals are also faced with language problems…how can we help?
